Sogo Budo Academy International

Sogo Budo Academy International ( SBA Inter) was established in 2006, to study Japanese history, culture and tradition through Japanese traditional martial arts (Budo). We believe that the way to peace of the world is to develop real international-minded person, who love not only Japanese nature, history, culture and tradition but also that of other country.
Grand Master Seiken Shukumine, who was a founder of Taido, said “Human need creation for co-existence, and harmony for co-prosperity". SBA Inter spread “Creation and Harmoney” to the world.

Where is the Dojo's name derived from ?

"Sogo" is owner's family name.

"Budo" means Japanese traditional martial arts in Japanese. Grand Master Seiken Shukumine, who was a founder of Taido, said "All Budo shall be Taido in the future.". So We decided to use "Budo" although we mainly teach Taido.

We want to study not only tecnique but also theory and philosophy of Taido. Moreover, we think tecniques must be studied scientifically. So we decided to use "Academy".

We want to be a platform to connect Japan and all of the world. So we decided to use "International".

What could be learned in SBA Inter?

We mainly teach Taido, but sometimes teach other Budo, including Aikido and Kendo,  to understand Taido techniques.

We also teach  Sun Tzu's "The Art of War", Musashi Miyamoto's "The book of five rings", and other teaching of Japanese ancient Budoka. Not only adult students but also children learn these.

Taido emphasize "Creation and Harmoney". We want students to become a leader in each field in the future. We believe that our students will make the world better than now.

What does the logo's Chinese letters mean?

The Chinese letters in the Dojo's Logo means that techniques are only five, but five techniques can develop infinitely. This is a pun for a famous phrase of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War". Grand Master Seiken Shukumine often said this phrase.

There are 5 basic techniques of Taido, Sen-gi, Un-gi, Hen-gi, Nen-gi and Ten-gi". These 5 basic techniques make infinite techniques.
